How to Make Homemade Cheese Sauce for Babies

It is best to make your own cheese sauce, instead of buying a cream cheese or dip to use in a recipe. You can easily prepare enough cheese sauce suitable for freezing and store for use whenever required. This is also a good sauce to include in one of your weaning recipes. This homemade cheese sauce for babies is made to be suitable for your tiny tot, who has just begun to be introduced to solid foods.

Ingredients:

  • 200ml milk
  • 20g butter
  • 20g flour
  • 2 tbsp mature cheddar cheese grated
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese grated

Procedure:

In a saucepan, melt the butter and as soon as it begins to bubble, add the flour and stir vigorously. Remove from hob and add a little milk and stir quickly not allowing the mixture to form lumps. Return pan to the gas and slowly add the milk, a little at a time until all the milk is used up. Allow to boil while stirring and let the consistency of the liquid thicken.

Once again remove from the stove and switch off. Now gently add the grated cheese while stirring all the time. Once both the cheeses have been put in and well-blended with the mixture without any signs of lumps, your cheese sauce is all ready for use. Use along with a recipe that you are cooking then or allow to cool and fill into a jar and store in the refrigerator.

This cheese sauce can be used with any recipe such as fish, vegetables and chicken.
