Banana Muffins for Babies

Baby weaning recipes must be nutritious and it should attract baby’s taste buds too. Following “Banana Muffins” recipe can be classified as one of the perfect weaning recipes for 9 months and older babies. The third stage of weaning starts when baby crosses nine months age and ends when baby is a year old.

Around this stage, baby should start eating soft lump foods, thick purées, mashed and chopped fruits & vegetables. However, approx. 600 ml of breast or formula milk is still essential in baby’s everyday diet along with regular weaning food.


  • 2 large ripe bananas
  • 2 cups self raising floor
  • 1/2 cup butter, unsalted
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 medium sized eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar


Preheat oven at 350 deg F. Peel and mash the bananas in a bowl. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and set aside. Heat a non stick saucepan over low heat and melt the butter. Turn off the heat and transfer the butter in a large mixing bowl. Using hand blender, gradually add sugar into the butter and keep stirring until both get mixed well and form a creamy texture. Add mashed bananas and beaten eggs into the butter- sugar mixture and mix well. Add self raising floor, vanilla extract and baking soda into the wet mixture and once again mix all the ingredients together until form a uniform batter.

Grease a muffin or cup cakes baking pan, put paper muffin cases and pour the muffin batter into each muffin tin. Place the baking pan inside the oven and let it bake for approx. 25 minutes until a cake checker inserted at the center of muffin comes out clean. Let the muffins cool in the pan itself for 15-20 minutes before serving.
